Hats off to WWW readers Emma and Harry whose boho rustic barn wedding was so beautiful! But they also persevered after not one but three wedding date changes. It looks as though their day was certainly worth the wait though.
They DIY’d much of their day, with the boho macrame, stationery and signage all handcrafted. I also love their gorgeous outfit choices, their unique autumn wedding flowers and their magnificent drip cake. Plus they brought along their cute pup which made for the sweetest of wedding photos. I’ve not even mentioned the alpacas yet either. So adorable.
I can’t thank Terri & Lori Photo and Film for sharing with us their joyful captures of Emma and Harry’s darling boho day.
Boho Rustic Barn Wedding
Harry and I booked a secluded treehouse getaway to celebrate our ten-year anniversary. Harry made a start on a BBQ in the evening and I was feeling cold so I put his jacket on and walked outside. His face dropped and he said that I can’t wear his jacket and suggested to wear my own.
I didn’t know why it was such a big deal but I huffed my way to the car to get my jacket (little did I know at this point the ring was in his jacket pocket). We had dinner then I went for a nice relaxing bubble bath.
Once I got out, I remembered my toiletries were in the other room. I wrapped myself in a towel, opened the door and Harry was there on one knee with the ring box open and asked me to marry him. He completely caught me off guard and I was so taken back. Of course, I said yes and it was just the best weekend to spend in the treehouse together before we told our family and friends.
From day one, Harry and I both wanted a laid-back and relaxed wedding day. We got married on our third time lucky date as we previously had to postpone our wedding three times due to the pandemic. Our wedding day really was worth the wait and it felt even more special after all of the restrictions to spend it with our family and friends.
Our main goal for the wedding was for the atmosphere to be relaxed so everyone could enjoy themselves. The venue was absolutely perfect for this as it has a brick barn, vineyard and the most amazing outdoor space where guests could explore (not to mention the on-site alpacas which was a massive plus when we booked the venue). We were very lucky with the weather on our wedding day and were able to get married outside as we envisioned.
The Ceremony & Music
We had the super talented Thom Morley play and sing before, during and after the ceremony.
Entrance: Can’t Help Falling in Love With You – Elvis
Signing the registry: Better Together – Jack Johnson
Exit: Ain’t no Mountain High Enough – Marvin Gaye
Thom then continued to play and sing during the drinks reception in the sunshine. We had a DJ for the evening.
Your Photographer & Filmmaker
The lovely Lauren and Terri from Terri & Lori Photo and Film were our photographers and filmmakers for the day. I’ve known Lauren for a number of years and have always loved her and Terri’s soft and romantic photography style. They went above and beyond for us and we are so grateful with how our photos and film turned out.
My wedding dress was by Willowby by Watters and was purchased from the beautiful Halo and Wren. The dress I chose was the very first dress I tried on. After I tried on other dresses, I put the first dress back on teamed with a flower crown and knew it was the one.
Harry and his ushers got their suits from Master Debonair. The suits arrived on a Thursday and we went into our the first lock down the following Monday. Let’s just say we were very pleased when all of the boys fitted into their suits almost two years later!
The Styling & Decor
I’m a designer and have always been creative, so wanted to do as much DIY as possible.
I have a love of macrame and made over 150 handmade macrame candle holders which were lit around the barn. I also made a macrame seating plan and designed all of the stationery and signage. Harry works in print, so was lucky he could bring my visions for the stationery and signage to life.
We didn’t want to plan anything abroad due to the ongoing pandemic, so went to Cornwall for the week and stayed in a luxury lodge which was perfect.
The whole day was just incredible. Having been together for 12 years and a lot of disappointment having to postpone our wedding numerous times, walking down the aisle was such a relief. Anything that could’ve gone wrong on the day really didn’t matter as the fact that Harry and I got married with our family and friends there was just the best feeling.
Advice For Other Couples
Enjoy every moment. The day really goes with the blink of an eye, so make sure to take everything in.
Just so beautiful.
Emma and Harry, thank you so much for sharing your boho rustic barn wedding story with us.
